Tinubu, Akpabio, Orji Kalu mourn Ifeanyi Ubah
President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the family of Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah on the passing on of the Senator representing Anambra South in the 10th Senate.
In a statement by his spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the President said the deceased was a renowned businessman and politician.
“He was the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
“President Tinubu commiserates with the friends and colleagues of the late Senator, the National Assembly, and the government and people of Anambra State over this sad loss.
“The President prays for the repose of the soul of the departed lawmaker, as well as for strength and comfort to his family,” he said.
Akpabio shocked by news of Ubah’s death
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed shock at the sudden death of the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah.
Ubah was until his death, the Senator representing Anambra South in the Upper Chamber.
Akpabio, in a condolence message by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Eseme Eyiboh, expressed deep sadness over the death of the Senator, saying he has left a void in the National Assembly.
He described the late Ubah as one of the shining lights of the nation’s democracy and a young democrat with vibrant and resourceful ideas.
“He was a hardworking and dependable legislator, who believed in equity, fairness and justice and was committed to serving his constituents and the nation at large,” the Senate president said.
“Distinguished Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah will be deeply missed by the Senate and the nation. His passing leaves a void in our midst.
“On behalf of the Senate and the entire National Assembly, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, loved ones, and constituents over this untimely death.
“May his legacy and contributions to our nation be a source of comfort and inspiration to the family, his constituents, political associates and the people of Anambra.
“May the God Almighty rest his gentle soul in peace.”
In his own message, the Chairman, the Senate Committee on Privatisation, Orji Uzor Kalu, described the demise of Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah as a huge shock and loss to Nigeria as a whole.
Kalu in his tribute on Saturday in Abuja extolled the virtues of the deceased.
He said Ubah, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was a patriotic and de-tribalized Nigerian, with a passion for a prosperous and better Nigeria.
Kalu urged family members, friends, and associates of the deceased to sustain the legacies of Ubah, noting that the former senator contributed immensely to the economic, social, and political development of Nigeria.
The Abia North lawmaker commiserated with the people and government of Anambra, adding that the late business mogul was a notable figure beyond politics and business.
“My heart goes out to Ubah’s family, ndi Nnewi, Anambra South constituents, the good people of Anambra, the government of Anambra and my colleagues in the Senate for the loss of our dearest friend and brother, Ifeanyi Ubah.
“It is a lot to deal with the shock of the news and the pain of the loss, his death is a very big loss to Nigeria.
“The deceased played various roles in nation-building as a businessman, philanthropist, politician, and publisher.
“The late senator was dogged, ebullient, humble, consistent and full of energy.
“His invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria are worthy of commendation and emulation.
“The late business mogul, no doubt, will forever be remembered for his good legacies, he said.”
Kalu prayed to God to grant rest to the soul of Ubah and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
