Dutch authorities were warned in advance about potential attacks on Israeli football fans in Amsterdam, according to Israeli media reports.

Israel’s Diaspora Ministry had advance knowledge of plans to injure a specific Israeli fan working  for the Israeli Border Police, Israeli media reported.

The Dutch authorities were also informed of a planned attack on a hotel where Israeli football supporters were staying.

The Diaspora Ministry reportedly expected violence at a pro-Palestinian protest in front of the Johan Cruijff Arena before the start of the football game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam, and shared this information with the Netherlands.

The city council banned the protest and designated another location for the rally.

According to the Dutch police, around 200 demonstrators tried to reach the venue on Thursday evening. (dpa/NAN)
