DONALD TRUMP, US President-elect

The American presidential election is no ‘longer too-close-to call’. From the figures officially posted so far, come-back bidder, former President Donal Trump is poised to convincingly win a ‘re-election’.

According to the latest figures, Trump is winning both the popular and electoral votes with 61,799,311 votes (51%) votes (51%) and 230 respectively to Vice President Kamala Harris’ 57,613,766 votes (47.6%) and 210 votes.

In 2016, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the electoral votes but lost to her in the popular votes.

A candidate requires 270 electoral votes to win the American presidency, irrespective of the number of the popular votes, one of the odds of the American democracy that has been stridently criticised around the world as a denial of the right of voters to elect a president of their choice. Trump has already won 230 to Harris’ 205.
