This video clip is tell-tale: it shows that every tax imposed or removed must have an economic growth objective. Here the Ghanaians are saying that to grow a depressed economy like theirs (as Nigeria’s also), or any economy at all, a government within a given jurisdiction must carry out strategic tax cuts in order to encourage businesses to sustain their operations and employment levels, probably expanding them, and, in the end, making enough money to be able to pay commensurate taxes to government.

Compare this position with Nigeria’s on tax matters.
Part of the reforms that agents of the present administration crow about is that the government has increased the tax burden on the populace and businesses.

In Enugu State, for instance, the government has just imposed a tax on every dead body deposited in any mortuary in the State. The question, then, is, what is the objective of such a tax?

But no matter… Watch the clip and make up your own mind. Thanks for joining us…
