Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has linked his administration’s 13th-month salary bonus directly to electoral support for the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections, declaring that civil servants have no choice but to vote for the ruling party.

Speaking on Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Asaba during an address to political leaders, party faithful, and campaign council members, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that the financial bonus effectively ties the economic well-being of the workforce to the political continuity of his administration.

He explained that all public sector personnel, ranging from civil servants to political appointees, would receive double their regular pay in December, describing the gesture as a major welfare intervention.

Addressing the gathering in his capacity as chairman of the state campaign council, Governor Oborevwori asserted that the double December payout leaves the state workforce with a clear political obligation.

He noted that many people do not fully grasp the magnitude of a 13th-month salary, pointing out that receiving double pay in December means civil servants have no reasonable option other than to support the APC at the polls.

He further charged council members to take President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message to every ward and polling unit across Delta State, highlighting key administration priorities such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and workers’ welfare under his M.O.R.E Agenda.

The governor’s position was reinforced by key state officials and campaign leaders present at the Asaba gathering.

Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme commended Oborevwori for aligning Delta State closely with the Federal Government and urged party loyalists to consolidate political gains by highlighting federal achievements under President Tinubu, including local government autonomy, road infrastructure, security, and education funding.

Concurrently, the Director-General of the campaign council, Senator James Manager, pledged to work alongside local leaders across all local government areas to secure a clean sweep for the party in 2027, describing the task ahead as an onerous responsibility that demands strict discipline, collective effort, and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
