The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has declared that securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections remains vital to delivering national prosperity and economic stability.

Speaking on October 12, 2026, during the commissioning of a new political campaign office on Lagos Island, Hamzat urged party faithful and political stakeholders to translate the state’s massive voting population into actual ballots to guarantee policy continuity.

Addressing party members at the event, Dr. Hamzat noted that while Lagos State boasts the highest number of registered voters in the country, historically low voter turnout remains a major hurdle that must be overcome.

”We are commissioning this office today to take our campaign to the grassroots. We know Lagos Island has been doing really well in voting, but that is not enough as many people still do not vote. We are here to mobilise residents to come out and vote for our President because he is one of us. We must demonstrate our support by voting for his re-election so that he can continue the good works he has started.” Dr. Obafemi Hamzat stated.

Hamzat cited voter participation metrics from previous elections in states like Osun, where turnout reached 54 percent, as a standard Lagos must strive to surpass through rigorous door-to-door voter engagement.

Reinforcing the Deputy Governor’s remarks, former Minister of State for Defence and APC Chieftain Senator Musiliu Obanikoro called on ward leaders, women delegates, and youth groups to step up neighborhood mobilisation efforts ahead of the main campaign timetable.

Obanikoro stressed that protecting the structural economic reforms initiated by the administration requires total unity behind APC candidates across all levels of government.

The gathering concluded with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony by state officials, followed by a tour of the campaign facility designed to coordinate local volunteer teams across Lagos.
