Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has officially signaled his intention to return to the National Assembly after obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former lawmaker picked up the forms in Kaduna State on Tuesday as preparations intensify for the party’s primary elections, positioning himself once again for the race to represent Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Senate.
Sani, who is 58 years old, previously served as the senator representing Kaduna Central after emerging victorious in the 2015 senatorial election under the APC platform. During his time in the Red Chamber, he became widely recognized for his outspoken nature, legislative contributions, and strong advocacy on issues concerning governance, transparency, and human rights.
Before venturing fully into partisan politics, Sani had already built a national reputation as a prominent human rights activist and public commentator. Over the years, he has remained one of the most vocal political figures in Nigeria, frequently weighing in on major national issues, security concerns, democratic governance, and citizens’ welfare.
His decision to re-enter the senatorial contest is expected to generate significant political attention within Kaduna State, particularly in Kaduna Central, where he still commands notable grassroots support and maintains strong political influence.
