The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on Nigerian citizens to emulate American voters by using the 2027 general elections to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a press statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the party cited worsening economic hardship, escalating insecurity, and declining living standards under President Bola Tinubu’s administration as compelling reasons for a change of government.

Signed by ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the statement drew direct parallels to the recent U.S. elections, where voters registered a decisive rebuke against ruling party policies.

According to the opposition party, the electoral outcome in the United States reinforces the fundamental principle that democratic power rests with citizens rather than political leaders or governing parties.

Abdullahi argued that when politicians become arrogant and enact policies that punish ordinary people, the ballot box serves as the ultimate instrument of accountability. He urged Nigerians to stop lamenting high living costs while continuing to endorse the ruling party at the polls.

Building on its electoral charge, the ADC questioned why the APC should be entrusted with another mandate given years of shrinking economic opportunities and persistent security challenges across the country. To counter the current administration’s trajectory, the party unveiled a governance platform focused on economic affordability, public safety, and job creation.

Concluding the address, the ADC urged citizens across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to treat their Permanent Voter Cards as active tools for political transformation rather than simple souvenirs of citizenship, rallying voters to turn out massively in 2027 to assert their interests.
