First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on women members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Cross River State to intensify grassroots mobilization and ensure maximum turnout for the ruling party in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The charge was delivered at the U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar during a strategic APC women’s mobilization exercise and rally. Addressing thousands of party faithful, market women, artisans, and political stakeholders drawn from all 18 local government areas of Cross River State, spokespersons for the First Lady urged women to take the campaign directly to households, markets, wards, places of worship, and polling units.

Representing the First Lady, APC National Woman Leader Dr. Mary Alile Idele, alongside former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Dr. Betta Edu, brought greetings from Senator Tinubu and outlined the strategic roadmap for the party’s victory.

Dr. Alile stated that the APC Women’s Mobilisation Directorate has set an ambitious nationwide target of 10.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling on Cross River women to lead the drive across the South-South region.

She noted that on the explicit directive of the First Lady, women must sustain existing party structures and convert general goodwill into actual ballot numbers at every polling station.

Echoing this directive, the wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, urged party women to set aside personal grievances and establish door-to-door canvassing units.

Challenging each attendee to mobilise between 100 and 200 voters at her local polling unit, Bishop Otu stressed that dedicated foot soldiers must engage communities across churches, prayer meetings, and open-air markets to secure a landslide for the Tinubu-Otu ticket.

The high-profile gathering was attended by prominent dignitaries and government officials, including the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; APC Women’s Mobilisation Directorate Deputy Director, Dr. Betta Edu;

Senators Abiodun Olujimi and Binta Masi; as well as the wife of the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, female lawmakers, commissioners, local government chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, councillors, and female candidates.

Beyond political strategy, the event featured a financial and material empowerment drive under the First Lady’s outreach initiatives. Grants of ₦50,000 cash were disbursed to 500 market women and small business owners to alleviate economic pressures and boost local commerce across the state.
