In a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) unveiled a revised Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list co-opting prominent opposition figures into President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election machinery.

The updated council structure was formally released to journalists on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 4:30 PM during a press briefing at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.

Under the revised framework, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu serves as the Chairman of the PCC, with Senator Abdulaziz Yari appointed as Director-General and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serving as Council Secretary.

The most notable alteration to the campaign hierarchy is the inclusion of key non-APC figures and opposition state governors assigned to coordinate campaign operations within their respective jurisdictions.

Nyesom Wike (Minister of the Federal Capital Territory), appointed to coordinate campaign operations in Rivers State. Ademola Adeleke (Governor of Osun State), named campaign coordinator for Osun State.

Chukwuma Soludo (Governor of Anambra State, APGA), appointed to oversee campaign logistics in Anambra State. Sheriff Oborevwori (Governor of Delta State) has been assigned to lead campaign coordination in Delta State.

Peter Mbah (Governor of Enugu State), assigned to direct regional campaign strategies in Enugu State.

In states where sitting governors maintained firm loyalty to rival parties, such as Abia Governor Alex Otti (Labour Party) and Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, the APC designated alternative state coordinators, including Chijioke Chukwu for Abia and Barrister M.A. Abubakar for Bauchi.

The expansion comes barely a month after APC governors publicly voiced opposition during an Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) meeting to alliances that could erode internal party structures or disadvantage loyal party candidates.

Addressing party concerns at Tuesday’s press conference, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike defended the emerging “Rainbow Coalition,” emphasizing that broad-based political alignment would strengthen rather than fragment the ruling party.

”The cross-party coalition is designed to unify support across regional and political lines for President Tinubu’s economic and structural reforms. It does not weaken the APC; it secures national stability,” Wike stated.

Reinforcing the party’s stance, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda challenged opposition platforms to engage the administration on policy initiatives rather than political rhetoric.

”We are building a platform capable of delivering results. We challenge opposition figures to present alternative manifestos and engage in substantive debate ahead of 2027,” Yilwatda noted.

Responding from the opposition side, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council in Osun State, acknowledged Governor Adeleke’s role while framing it around governance deliverables, urging voters to support leaders who deliver on campaign promises.

The revised PCC deployment marks a decisive tactical shift by the APC as opposition alliances, including Atiku Abubakar’s platform and Peter Obi’s Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), prepare their strategies for the 2027 ballot.
