The Obidient Movement, supporting the political ideology of Peter Obi, issued a stern warning on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, advising him against any attempt to influence or subvert the outcome of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The warning was issued in an official press statement released in Abuja by the Movement’s Directorate of Media and Communications.

The statement came as a direct reaction to recent political declarations by Wike, in which he asserted his commitment to delivering both the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Refuting the minister’s claims, the Obidient Movement emphasized that public officials do not own the electorate and warned against treating state resources or territories as private property.

”Rivers State belongs to its people. The Federal Capital Territory belongs to the Nigerian people. Neither belongs to Wike, Tinubu, the APC, or any political godfather. Nigerians alone have the constitutional right to determine who governs them through free, fair, and credible elections.” Stated by the Directorate of Media and Communications, Obidient Movement.

The Directorate warned that the peaceful disposition of Nigerians should not be mistaken for weakness or compliance with political intimidation. Addressing the minister and APC campaign strategists directly, the group stressed that electoral malpractice would no longer go unpunished or unexposed.

The group highlighted several key demands ahead of the 2027 poll cycle. Nigerians were urged to remain vigilant at polling units, document any electoral irregularities in real time, and upload credible evidence for public scrutiny.

Electoral offenses must attract severe legal consequences regardless of the political status or executive immunity of those involved. Results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must reflect only votes cast by citizens at polling units, rather than decisions made behind closed doors.

Concluding its address, the Directorate reaffirmed that political campaigns are welcome, but any plot to manipulate results would face lawful resistance from millions of Nigerian voters across the country.

”The 2027 election is not Wike’s personal battle. It is not Tinubu’s private property. It is not the APC’s entitlement. It belongs to the Nigerian people. Let Wike campaign. Let the APC campaign. Let Nigerians vote. And let the votes count.”
