The Zamfara State Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its status as a legally recognized political entity, dismissing rumors questioning its legitimacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
​Speaking to journalists in Gusau, the state capital, the Zamfara State NDC Chairman declared that the party is fully registered, financially compliant, and structured to challenge the status quo in both the state and national political landscapes.
​The Chairman’s statement comes amidst shifting political alliances in Northern Nigeria, as major political players recalibrate their strategies for the next election cycle. The state leadership emphasized that the NDC has met all statutory requirements set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
​”Let it be known clearly that the NDC is not a pressure group or a temporary political association,” the Chairman stated. “We are a fully certified, legally recognized political party. Those spreading narratives to the contrary are simply threatened by our rapid grassroots mobilization across Zamfara and the wider North-West zone.”
​The declaration follows high-profile political movements within the state, including the recent emergence of Senator Kabir Marafa as a key figure within the party’s structure.
​The state executive council noted that the party’s doors remain open to defectors from other major parties who are disillusioned with the current governance approach. The leadership assured party faithful that the NDC has put rigid frameworks in place to ensure fair internal democracy, referencing the party’s recent nationwide primary structures as evidence of its operational readiness.
​With national figures like former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi driving the party’s message at the federal level, the Zamfara chapter expressed confidence that the NDC will present a formidable alternative to the electorate.
