Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and ex-Minister of Water Resources, Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, has called on voters across northern Nigeria to deliver a massive vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Shagari issued the call on Monday morning, October 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM, during a political stakeholders meeting and media briefing held at the APC Regional Secretariat in Sokoto.

Addressing party members, community leaders, and journalists, Shagari emphasized that President Tinubu’s economic policy overhauls and infrastructure drives are yielding critical results for the northern region.

”In the North, we have no reason to oppose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid,” Shagari stated. “Contrary to speculations in certain quarters, the region recognizes the ongoing structural reforms, security improvements, and major infrastructure developments. The northern electorate will align behind him to ensure continuity and consolidation in 2027.”

He highlighted federal investments in critical road infrastructure and security interventions across agricultural belts as key developments benefiting northern communities.

The endorsement comes as political leaders across northern Nigeria engage in consultations ahead of the 2027 election cycle. Shagari urged regional stakeholders to put aside political divisions and focus on long-term national stability and economic progress.

Correspondent Animashaun Salman, speaking on behalf of local media representatives present at the event, noted that local All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Sokoto reaffirmed Shagari’s stance, pledging to mobilize grassroots voters across the North-West zone in support of the administration.
