The Village Boys Movement, a political support group backing Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential ambition, has launched a grassroots mobilization campaign across Abia State ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to safeguard citizen votes at polling units.

The launch event took place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Hotel De Plaza Conference Hall in Umuahia, drawing local coordinators, youth leaders, and community representatives from all 17 local government areas of Abia State.

Addressing attendees, the State Coordinator of the group, Comrade Chidiebere Nwachukwu, stated that the initiative is designed to organize, educate, and empower voters at the ward and polling-unit levels.

”Our goal goes beyond securing support for Mr. Peter Obi; it is centered on defending the integrity of the electoral process,” Nwachukwu said during his address. “We are establishing polling-unit vigilante teams across every electoral ward in Abia State to ensure that the people’s votes are properly recorded, protected, and accurately counted.”

Also speaking at the event, the National Publicity Secretary of the movement, Chief Emmanuel Kalu, emphasized that the campaign relies on community-driven structures to bolster voter turnout and prevent electoral malpractice.

He noted that the group plans to conduct ward-level workshops on electoral laws, peaceful vigilance, and real-time result monitoring in the coming months.
