The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a resolute charge to its members and supporters across Nigeria, urging them to come out en masse to vote and remain at their respective polling units to protect their ballots during the 2027 general elections.
The main opposition party emphasised that electorate members must not succumb to harassment, intimidation, or political antics designed to scuttle the opposition’s chances at the polls.
Addressing party leaders, faithful, and press correspondents during a media briefing on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the PDP National Headquarters (Wadata Plaza) in Wise Zone 5, Abuja, the party leadership outlined its strategic roadmap to safeguard votes from polling points to collation centers.
Speaking on behalf of the party, National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba stated that the PDP is putting comprehensive measures in place to monitor the electoral process end-to-end to ensure the genuine voice of Nigerians is reflected in the final results.
”We are calling on all PDP members, supporters, and patriotic citizens across the 36 states and the FCT not to yield an inch to intimidation or the desperate antics of those who wish to disrupt our democracy,” Ologunagba declared. “Cast your vote, stay peacefully behind in accordance with the law, and defend your civic mandate until the official results are documented and announced.”
During the session, party officials outlined several primary instructions for voters ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. Supporters are advised to remain within designated, lawful distances of polling units after casting their ballots to witness the counting process firsthand.
Members were cautioned against giving in to scare tactics or political maneuvering aimed at depressing voter turnout in opposition strongholds. The party confirmed it will deploy trained polling agents and coalition monitoring teams across all wards, local governments, and state collation centers to prevent vote tampering.
Reiterating the party’s stance, former Senate President and PDP leader Bukola Saraki highlighted that the party remains unified, credible, and fully prepared to present candidates across all elective positions in 2027. He added that the PDP will continue to enforce strict internal procedures and work closely with relevant electoral bodies to safeguard voter choice.
The leadership reaffirmed that the PDP remains committed to peaceful participation in Nigeria’s democratic process while insisting that no illegal efforts to undermine the popular will of the electorate will be tolerated in 2027.
