The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced that it will certify and publish the final register of voters on December 15, 2026, ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

The announcement was contained in an official press statement released on Monday evening, October 26, 2026, by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, at the commission’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

In response to concerns raised by citizens and civic advocacy groups regarding access to voter information, the commission revealed that it has uploaded the preliminary register of voters onto its online portal.

This digital measure complements the physical display previously conducted across various registration areas nationwide, allowing registered voters to verify their personal details, locate their polling units, and flag potential errors or omissions.

Haruna noted that the online release allows the public to submit claims and objections regarding questionable or ineligible entries before the roll is finalised. The commission is currently processing all submitted feedback in accordance with statutory guidelines established under the Electoral Act, 2026.

Reiterating the agency’s commitment to public confidence and legal compliance, Haruna emphasized that the decision to expand online access reflects a dedication to transparency, accountability, and the faithful implementation of electoral laws to deliver credible elections.

Registered voters across the country are encouraged to access the portal to review their details ahead of the December 15 certification deadline.
