Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has called on the residents of Surulere and Lagos State to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The political leaders made the appeal on Saturday morning, September 26, 2026, during the annual 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Addressing a crowd of thousands gathered at the stadium’s main arena, Gbajabiamila urged constituents to ensure political continuity by renewing President Tinubu’s mandate and supporting APC candidates across all elective positions in the state.

”All of this leads to one message for 2027. The work has started and it must continue,” Gbajabiamila said. “I am asking you, as your friend, as your leader, as your brother, as your fellow Surulerian, to renew your mandate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and vote for APC candidates across Lagos State.”

The event featured the distribution of economic tools and financial support to roughly 5,000 residents and small business owners.

Items provided at the empowerment drive included Cash Grants: N250,000 disbursed to 4,018 individuals, and N500,000 given to 348 beneficiaries. For logistics, 61 electric vehicles, 50 electric tricycles, 60 minibuses, four 18-seater Toyota Hiace buses, two security patrol vehicles, and a medical ambulance and 100 laptops for students and young entrepreneurs.

Gbajabiamila highlighted key administration initiatives, including the interest-free student loan scheme, increased federal allocations to subnational governments, and ongoing efforts on state policing reforms, as reasons to sustain the APC led government in 2027.

Supporting the call for party unity, Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat praised the initiative and emphasised that community-level empowerment reflects the core duties of APC leadership.

”What we are doing here today is what our party understands: that our service as political leaders is to serve and empower our citizens,” Hamzat stated. “So how do we say thank you for this? It is by voting massively for the candidates of our party.”

Other key APC figures present at the venue included Senator Wasiu Esinlokun-Sanni (Lagos Central Senatorial District), former Minister of State for Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro (representing Lagos APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi), and the Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Sulaimon Bamidele Yusuf.

The event concluded with Gbajabiamila assuring constituents that despite serving in his executive role at the Villa, his commitment to the development of Surulere and Lagos State remains unwavering.
