The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Governor Seyi Makinde, has advised Nigerians to accept financial inducements offered by politicians during campaigns but ensure they vote strictly according to their conscience at the ballot box.
Speaking on Saturday afternoon, November 7, 2026, during the official flag-off of the APM presidential campaign at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Stadium in Bauchi metropolis, Makinde urged voters not to let money sway their electoral choices.
The event, which commenced around 12:00 PM, brought together thousands of party faithful, political leaders, and supporters from across the country. ”When they come with money during the election, do not bother to reject it. If the money is yours, collect it and spend it.
But guard your conscience and make the right decision when the time comes. I know that your hearts are with us and with APM,” Makinde stated. The APM standard-bearer emphasized that accepting financial offerings does not compromise a voter’s integrity, framing campaign handouts as public funds that belong to the citizens.
Addressing the crowd alongside his running mate, Lawal Daura, Makinde called for a comprehensive “National Reset” to tackle economic hardship, rampant insecurity, and socio-political exclusion. He questioned whether the widespread hunger and security challenges facing the country should not prompt citizens to embrace a fundamental change in governance.
In his address, APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, reaffirmed the party’s readiness to restore good governance and security across Nigeria, praising Makinde’s leadership record and commitment to democratic values.
The host of the campaign flag-off, Bauchi State Governor and APM National Leader, Senator Bala Mohammed, commended the party supporters for their massive turnout and urged Nigerians to support the APM’s agenda for national renewal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
