Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as the vice-presidential running mate to its presidential flagbearer, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The declaration was made in a formal statement issued by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, following weeks of speculation and intense internal consultations. According to the party’s leadership, the decision to pair Amaechi with Atiku came after extensive dialogue with key party stakeholders, coalition partners, youth and women groups, and regional representatives across the six geopolitical zones.
The ADC described the Atiku-Amaechi pairing as a strategic “unity and rescue ticket” designed to offer Nigerians a formidable alternative to the ruling party in 2027. ”The proposed partnership between His Excellency Atiku Abubakar and Rt. Hon. The choice of Amaechi was heavily influenced by his performance in the recently concluded ADC presidential primaries, where he finished as the first runner-up behind Atiku. Party insiders note that Amaechi’s extensive political résumé provides a critical balance to the ticket. The ADC highlighted his unique track record spanning both the legislative and executive arms of government.
By securing Amaechi, the ADC aims to consolidate a massive voting bloc in the South-South and wider Southern Nigeria, combining it with Atiku’s established national structure and Northern appeal.
