The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has officially launched the online accreditation exercise for senior civil servants participating in the upcoming 2026 promotion evaluation.
The two-week registration exercise targets eligible officers serving on Salary Grade Levels (SGL) 14, 15, and 16 across various federal ministries, extra-ministerial departments, and agencies.
​In a formal announcement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the Head of Press and Public Relations for the Commission, Mr. Ibraheem Zakariyya, stated that the designated accreditation portal will open on Friday, August 14, and remain accessible until Friday, August 28, 2026.
The initiative, instituted under the direction of FCSC Chairman Prof. Tunji Olaopa, forms part of broader institutional reforms aimed at instituting transparency, orderliness, and merit-based advancement throughout the public service.
​To participate, affected officers are required to access the official FCSC promotion portal at fedcivilservice.gov.ng using login credentials sent directly to their registered email addresses.
The Commission emphasized that the portal will shut down automatically at midnight on August 28, 2026, and no deadline extension will be granted under any circumstances. Officers who fail to complete the registration within the specified timeframe will be disqualified from the 2026 exercise and required to wait until 2027 to re-present themselves for accreditation.
​Candidates are urged to complete their registration early to avoid potential last-minute technical difficulties. The Commission also reiterated that the 2026 Directorate Level Promotion Examination will be administered using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format designed to assess professional competence, administrative knowledge, and familiarity with public service regulations.
​Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers, and Chief Executive Officers across all government establishments have been instructed to ensure wide dissemination of the directive, ensuring that all qualified personnel, including those stationed outside headquarters or serving in foreign missions, complete the process promptly.
